On May the 13th I returned to Hasson And Wong for what was my fifth and will be my final hair transplant. I booked my flight with Canadian Affair which was a Thomas Cook flight it was a no frills flight but cost just over £400 for a return so it can be done a a budget but I would recommend booking early and paying the extra cost for extra leg room seats.I spent several nights in Vancouver and days in the Hasson And Wong office this time was spent observing surgeries by both Dr Hasson and Dr Wong, observing consultations with Dr Hasson and Doug and spending time with Joe, and the rest of the team.
They did let me out to get to know Vancouver during the day and night but I will report about that another time aswell as my observations of watching the surgeries being carried out. When it was time again for my turn in the chair I was very relaxed, the goal from this latest surgery was to revise some of my old scars from previous work in the UK and use the grafts that would be yielded from this to put into my immediate hairline. Dr Hasson was worried that after 4 previous surgeries my laxity was very poor, laxity is rarely an issue for the first time as most people have at least average laxity and with scalp exercises this can be improved but after four surgeries it will become an issue for most people.
The worst part of the whole operation for me again was the injections into the donor and recipient areas to numb the whole area, once this is done the rest of the surgery is painless and pretty comfortable. The strip was taken out in sections by Dr Hasson testing for laxity as he went along, the majority of tissue was scarred but the strip did yield some hair and this is then trimmed and cut by the lovely techs under magnification.
I rested up while this was being done and watched a dvd once the total graft count was known it was just over 600 grafts Dr Hasson made the incisions into the recipient area with his custom made blades, again I counted along with him just like we did four years ago at the first surgery and when he was done making the incisions June and Christina implanted the grafts into their new homes and I continued to watch a dvd.
As you can imagine this was done in a small amount of time compared to my first surgery for 4856 grafts, with the 623 grafts Dr Hasson was able to lower the hairline slightly to try to change the appearance and we added a very small widows peak, he also lowered the hairline further on one side to try to even it out as Dr May in 1996 had drawn it wonky.I am looking forward to see how the new 623 grafts will look once grown in several months from now and will update when I have something to show.
Below are the immediate post op pics from the surgery as well as some pics of the scarred strip and my follicles under magnification.

Hi, do you have pics of the strip scar revised before and after?
How did they close the stip scar? Tricho or just double layer?
stitches or staples? how many layers?
Thanks for your help!
